I liked the concept of it, but I felt that at times the author’s attempts to bend the narrative to the alphabetical structure of Madame Dariaux’s book hindered the flow and at times felt rather forced and jarring. Thank you for your feedback. She’s overweight, badly dressed, has purely platonic relations with her husband and is surrounded by more-glamorous-than-thou types—her friend Nicki, a former model; her mother-in-law, a former model and a socialite—who condescend to her.

Having just been through a humiliating party in which she looked terrible, Louise pulls this book out and starts to read. If you want to read something light, very funny and motivational you might find yourself renewing your gym membership, going through eleegance closet, shopping for new clothes and reevaluating your relationships this book could be a good choice.

When comfort becomes an end in itself, it is the Public Enemy Number One of elegance. I found her petulant, whiny and selfish and I quickly grew bored of her and her theatrics. Too many resolutions and life changes were reached after a few page of set up, but it was otherwise light, fun, and very much redolent of Bridget Jones.

Because by pursuing the goal of acquiring a sense of style, Louise finally learns who she truly is, how to live a fulfilled life, how to realize her own dreams and ambitions. She dumps her soul-sucking therapist. I would have stomached the ponderous pace and worthless dialogue. That I spend too much time daydreaming altogether.
But secondhand bookshops have pilgrims. I will also recommend it as a springboard to those who enjoy exploring a more classic quieter way of life even though this is just touched upon tesaaro the novel.
In each chapter, she leads with a bit of advice from Dariaux, followed by a kthleen in the protagonist’s life where she either heeds or disregards said advice.
