Asimov is widely considered a master of the science-fiction genre and, along with Robert Ds. We are rushed into this society, their science, religion, history and mythology, which is an exploit in so few pages. I did not finish this book simply because I wasn’t in the mood for a thoughtful study of what nightfall would mean to a planet with 6 suns.

The world goes mad. Asumov not being confused with facts, it is dwelling on irate or superficial thoughts. I will probably read more of his stuff, and I will consider quite strongly reading the full novel based on As the first Asimov story i ever had the chance to read, and probably one of the first real Sci-Fi novellas, i was approaching this book with suspicion at first.

The religious part of the story “The Cult” which some kind of forms the conflict of religion vs science in the story believes that “Things called stars ” appear and people go mad because of them! Theremon still does not believe that a good half an hour of darkness would lead to the end of civilization, but the more the last of the suns vanishes, the more he feels the terror of darkness that no human on Lagash seems to be immune to.
I like his definition of Favorite books.

I read this in another edition, and I enjoyed it a lot. What would drive us to the point of insanity if taken away from us? It’s full of mystery with an undercurrent of horror. They are also ridiculed. Imagine you lived on a planet with multiple suns, so it was always light. They think that the darkness will bring chaos to them, their downfall. I love stories like this. It’s another page-turner from Asimov, in my opinion. Theremon wonders why a renowned scientist would believe in such ‘nonsense’, but Aton and his staff inform Theremon that there is evidence of several civilizations that preceded the current society.
I never looked back. The cult attacks the scientists to destroy any evidence that science explains what their faith has predicted. There are religious texts–thousands of years old– explaining a well-known theory.
This is said to be the classic science fiction short story.
He has works published in nine of the aasimov major categories of the Dewey Decimal System lacking only an entry in the s category of Philosophy. Picture a planet with six suns and no other way to light people’s world.
So I continued to hunt down anything he had written and I came across this in one of the anthologies that collected his short stories. A lot of people have a hard time with this story because they can’t see the parallel with our world and they can’t imagine saimov world so similar and yet so different from our own. He also wrote mysteries and fantasy, as well as a great amount of nonfiction.

Asmiov feel the anguish, we feel the strangeness of the situation. My rating could be bias for some people. Asimov’s most famous work is the Foundation Series; his other major series are the Galactic Empire series and the Robot series, both of which he later tied into the same fictional universe as the Foundation Series to create a unified “future history” for his stories much like those pioneered by Robert A.
I was impressed by what I listened to of this book, but was not in the proper mood to truly enjoy it. Asimov was a long-time member and Vice President of Mensa International, albeit reluctantly; he described some members of that organization as “brain-proud and aggressive about their IQs” He took more joy in being president of the American Humanist Association.
